Depaz, the Grand Cru “Agricole” rums

At the foot of the Mount Pelée volcano in Martinique is the island’s most beautiful and ancient plantations: the Depaz plantation. Since 1651, the Depaz distillery has produced great “Agricole” rums: white rum, but also golden rum and old rums. They are typical of the finesse expected from top grade distilled spirits.

In 1902, Mount Pelée delivered a devastating volcanic eruption which impassioned Victor Depaz, the sole surviving family member, ultimately to return to the Estate in 1917 and successfully rebuild the Depaz Château and the agricultural distillery.

It’s these volcanic ashes that today continue to fuel the rich development and production of the best canes that permeate Depaz with its “explosive” taste and character.
